An Introduction to Psychometrics is a 25-hour course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the basic principles and applications of psychometrics. No prior knowledge in psychometrics or advanced statistical methods is required.
Throughout this course, you will learn the basics of measurement theory, scales of measurement, and the principles of developing effective psychometric tests. You’ll explore the important concepts of reliability and validity and understand how to evaluate the psychometric properties of a test.
The course will delve into both classical and modern psychometric theories such as Classical Test Theory, Item Response Theory, and Rasch Models. Furthermore, you will be introduced to the various statistical techniques used in psychometrics, such as factor analysis and structural equation modelling.
You’ll also be introduced to key ethical considerations in psychometric testing, including issues related to test bias, fairness, and the ethical use of tests.
The course includes a mix of lectures, readings, interactive discussions, practical exercises, and a final project where you will apply your knowledge to develop a conceptual plan for a psychometric test.
